PAE is currently seeking an Electrical Supervisor to support the Camp Sullivan, Kabul, Afghanistan. The candidate will work on construction and maintenance sites including exposure to the dangers inherent with such sites.
Responsibilities:
The Electrical Supervisor will:
- Will perform work required for the repair, maintenance, installation, and modernization of electrical systems for buildings, equipment and grounds.
- Supervise and provide guidance to all subordinates.
- Locate and determine electrical malfunctions using test equipment.
- Repair malfunctions by such methods as replacing burned out elements, fuses, and replacing defective wiring, cleaning and repairing motors.
- Test electrical equipment, such as motors, heaters, and controls for safety and efficiency, using standard test equipment and by observing functions.
- Installs fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment.
- Inspect circuits for specified shielding and grounding.
- Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance with Statement of Work (SOW) to the O&M Manager.
- Perform inspections and prepares written reports.
- Develop scopes of work when requested including diagrams and specifications in compliance with OSHA and National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
- Maintains effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with other employees, supervisors, and supports other organizations.
- Perform other administrative tasks including material ordering, inventory, work scheduling and report preparation.
- General supervisory duties and responsibilities.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of an Apprenticeship program with a Journeyman Certificate, or have an AA/AS degree in electrical from a two year college and/or equivalent field experience is strongly preferred.
- Licensed Journeyman Electrician is required.
- A minimum of five years’ experience in operations and maintenance services, with a minimum of three years’ experience in an OCONUS setting is requried.
- Must be able to take initiative to analyze a situation and to make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety and electrical codes.
- Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical trade, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
- Knowledge in the discipline of operations and maintenance projects in an international environment preferred.
- Previous overseas experience working with a multi-national workforce is highly desirable.
- Must have good organizational and communication skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
- Must possess current Secret Clearance. US Citizenship is required for this job.
- Excellent oral and communication skills in English are required.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word and Excel) are required.
- Periodic travel with extended overnight stays may be required for work on projects at other locations in Afghanistan. Percentage of travel will vary significantly but on average is expected to be less than 10% of the total time.
- This position works ten hours/day six days a week minimum. The candidate participates in a duty phone rotation and must be willing to quickly respond to emergencies and contingencies as they occur to ensure the continued 24/7 operations of the facilities.
