My client is currently seeking Deputy Platoon Chief for their airfield operation on the busiest NATO airfield that handles both commercial as well as military aircraft.
You will be reporting to Platoon Chief, the Deputy Platoon Chief leads and conducts daily platoon duties and may stand in for the Platoon Chief in his absence.
Specific Accountabilities:
The Deputy Platoon Chief directs and participates in fire fighting operations, rescue operations and fire fighting training activities. The Deputy Platoon Chief shall be able to carry out the following duties;
• lead all aspects of ARFF airfield and/or Structural firefighting operations,
• train firefighters in all aspects of airfield and/or structural firefighting operations,
• prepare reports concerning the fire services,
• participate in fire inspections,
• takes action as required by SOPs; as well as complies with Atco policy
• performs in a professional manner to prevents damage, or unnecessary physical or financial loss to Fire Department equipment and materials;
• Become familiar with MR safety regulations, in particular, the safety regulations pertaining to the Fire Services and operations;
• able to direct subordinates and maintain discipline.
• drives and operates fire fighting apparatus,
• removes personnel from an area of high risk to an area of relative safety,
• executes fire extinguishing procedures,
• provides Advanced First Aid and CPR to the injured,
• supervises the return of equipment to a state of normal stand-by readiness after every use
• supervises and participates in required fire fighting training activities;
• maintains a physical fitness standard as required by MR policy;
• supervises and conducts training for non-fire fighting personnel and various organized groups;
• supervise and/or carry out the inspection, testing and maintenance of all fixed or portable extinguishing or detection systems, fire apparatus, water distribution systems, as well all hand portable firefighting equipment, life safety equipment and fire fighting vehicles
• maintains a high level of cooperation between peers, subordinates and supervisors;
• demonstrates initiative and problem solving skills
• uses effective time management to complete assignments
• Other duties as assigned
Educational and Experience Requirements:
• 12 years experience as a Fire Fighter (ARFF and Structural) and 3 years supervisory experience,
• Valid Driving License,
• Qualified to NFPA, military or national equivalent standards in the following:
1. NFPA 1001: Fire Fighter Level I/II
2. NFPA1002: Fire Apparatus Driver Operator Pumper & ARFF,
3. NFPA 1003: Airport Firefighter
4. NFPA 472: HAZMAT Incident Commander
5. NFPA 1021: Fire Officer II,
6. NFPA 1031: Fire Inspector Level I/II,
7. NFPA 1041: Fire Service Instructor,
• Experienced in the following Standards:
1. ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1
2. ICAO Doc.9137 Part 1
3. ICAO Doc.9137 Part 7
4. other International Fire Codes
5. NATO STANAGs relating to rotary wing aircraft,
• Experience of military rotary wing aircraft fire fighting,
• Knowledge of NATO STANAGs relevant to airfield fire fighting capability and requirements,
• National Security Clearance or NATO Secret Clearance,
• English language skills to meet NATO standard.
The client is offering US$80,000 per year tax free and all food, accommodation, insurance flights etc are being covered by the client, however the airfield is on 24 hr operation and you will be working a 24h day on day off shift pattern and the total number in the department is about 88 personnel at the moment. The rotation for this role is 4/1 month.
