Requirements: These members shall possess MWD Trainer experience with forward deployed area of operation and knowledgeable of USAF SF expeditionary and combat skills operations within the last 5 years.
• Accurately apply knowledge of explosive/drug detection and patrol training protocols, which are essential in building the concept of reward schedules IAW AFMAN 31-219, USAF Military Working Dog Program, and approved HQ AFSFC EDD RTC curriculum.
• Accurately teach MWD handlers and trainers to condition dogs to associate explosive/drug odor in the combat environment IAW AFMAN 31-219, USAF Military Working Dog Program, and approved HQ AFSFC EDD RTC curriculum.
• Accurately teach correct procedures to develop patrol capabilities IAW AFMAN 31-219, USAF Military Working Dog Program, and approved HQ AFSFC EDD RTC curriculum.
• Provide guidance, counseling, and assistance to students. May be requested to modify scenarios as training requirements change or shortfalls are identified.
• At least four years of experience as a Military Working Dog Handler and possess operational MWD experience in the deployed expeditionary environment.
• Knowledge of the Air Force training processes, programs and requirements. Individuals must possess and maintain a DoD secret clearance.
• Graduate of the 341 Training Squadron (TRS) Military Working Dog Handler Course held at Lackland AFB, TX.
• Provide technical support, planning, advice and execution to establish, integrate, maintain, improve and disseminate MWD and C-IED training related information at the SF RTC location as it pertains to MWD operations and training subject matter.
• Provide the skill and knowledge in working detector/patrol MWDs in the combat environment, in developing training programs, and in training from initial through advanced levels.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Power Point, Excel, Project, and Outlook) and database systems.
• Prepare briefings and communicate dog deficiencies to supervisors, and/or Course Managers.
• Ability to operate a six passenger truck with trailer, operate all tactical vehicles located at the RTC for training purposes and any vehicle deemed necessary to complete training.
