Job Summary
The Manager of Security and Transportation directs the company’s security, safety and transportation programs on a regional basis. Responsible for the protection of company assets, and for the security and safety of all associates,
visitors, contractors and vendors while on Health Net property. Manages internal staff and external contract security supervisors to ensure a safe and secure work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Analyzes, develops and assists in the formulation of Security, Safety, Transportation and Parking programs and supervises the implementation and operation of same.
  • Conducts complex internal investigations that relate to the company, its assets and associates. Acts as liaison with internal and external entities such as law enforcement, fire departments and contract security.
  • Provides daily management and coordinates appropriate response to security, safety, transportation and parking related issues and concerns that arise and document incidents.
  • Conducts security, safety, transportation and parking surveys at all Health Net locations and makes appropriate recommendations.
  • Coordinates internal and external resources during emergencies or operational irregularities to ensure the protection of people and property and the timely resumption of business.
  • Provides information to internal clients on such matters as risk assessment, investigations, executive protection, and operation of critical incident team and emergency response team.
  • Manages the employment, promotion, associate performance evaluation, training, motivation, counseling and corrective action of assigned associates.
  • Develops budget for the region and control revenues and expenses to meet budget goals and objectives.

  • Education
    • Bachelor's Degree; or work experience equal to four years of experience for each year of college
    Certification/Licensure Required
    • Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from the American Society for industrial Security preferred
    • Must possess valid driver's license and have an excellent DMV record

  • Minimum seven years experience in Industrial Security, Law Enforcement or related experience
  • Minimum three years experience in supervision or management

  • Any combination of academic education, professional training or work experience, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Demonstrates organization, management and leadership skills with the ability to create an effective team environment
  • Ability to handle multiple projects while providing leadership and direction to staff
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, as well as strong presentation skills, are required
  • Ability to operate PC based software programs and automated database management systems
  • Ability to work irregular schedules and travel frequently

  • Working Conditions

    • Operates personal computers, printers, facsimile, telephones, copy machines and other commonly used office accessories/equipment.

    • Physical activity may include: twisting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crawling, grasping, grabbing, pushing, pulling, repetitive motion, climbing, etc.
    • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
    • Required to have hearing ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
    • Required to have speaking ability to express or exchange ideas.
    • Significant computer usage including typing and/or eye strain.
    • Significant repetitive arm, wrist, hand and finger motions -- making repetitive movements (e.g. key boarding, filing, data entry).
    • Significant phone usage; headsets may be required.
    • Moderate travel may be required between work sites and/or out of area.
    • Moderate lifting may be required. May need to lift, carry and/or move equipment/supplies weighing up to 35 pounds, always using safe lifting techniques.
    • Significant work in a loud office environment with frequent interruptions/distractions
    • Significant sedentary work (desk bound or seated).
    • Significant reading is required via computer screen and/or bound printed materials.
    • Moderate walking/standing may be required. Walking and/or transporting supplies and equipment between buildings/parking lots and structures may be required.
    • Significant concentration may be required on various subjects by listening, reading and thinking clearly.
    • Significant interaction with others may be required. May need to listen, think, and speak in order to interact with others. Business interactions and behavior between coworkers and/or external customers are required. This may require face-to-face or telephone interactions.
    • Significant thinking at work may include listening, learning, analyzing, evaluating, and the ability to interpret what is seen and/or heard, or to link information from one or several things to the next.
