Job Summary
Anadarko Petroleum Corporation is seeking an experienced individual to manage the security of Anadarko’s Africa projects. The Manager of Security Projects Africa is a Houston-based position working as part of an international team made up of security professionals and will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of Corporate International Security Policies for all Anadarko projects in Africa. This position will serve a dual role, providing support, preparedness, and readiness, specifically pertaining to international crisis situations.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of seven (7) years Corporate Security Management experience, preferably with significant exposure to the security challenges faced in Africa. A broad knowledge and understanding of crisis management and a thorough understanding of emergency and regulatory plan development and the integration of plans into corporate operations is a key component of this position. Additional competencies include:
Knowledge and experience with Crisis Management, specifically K&R and Missing Person situations.
Basic understanding of the oil and gas industry, and the security challenges it faces on a domestic and international front.
Demonstrated understanding of Project Management application including time management, task allocation, and staying current on Project developments.
Excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to communicate with and conduct presentations to senior leadership and other project managers.
Ability to communicate in Portuguese/French would be advantageous.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be a self-starter and strategic thinker with a vision for the establishment of an innovative security program. The focus of this role is to manage all aspects of security for Anadarko’s Africa Projects including technical, physical, and financial elements while staying cognizant of time restrictions to meet objectives. Specific responsibilities include:
Support the development and management of strategic Corporate Security initiatives within Africa
Provide updates to Projects Africa Business Management on Project-related issues which may impact Anadarko operations
Maintain dynamic working relationships between Corporate Security and field-based security experts
Ensure harmonization of policies, procedures, processes and standards between Corporate Security and Projects Africa Business Management
Stimulate dynamic interaction between the Business Group, local security and Operations groups working on special projects within Africa
Work closely with Regional Security Managers and local security staff in Africa to proactively review and evaluate security risks for Africa project sites
Investigate the applicability of new or advanced technology and present findings to Manager, Global Security Operations (MGSO)
Present project-related security recommendations to Projects Africa Business Management in Houston
Manage Houston-based security staff dedicated to Africa Projects
Ensure security risk assessments are performed at all pertinent sites within Africa
Liaise with Contracts Group in Houston to create Statements of Work and Work Orders for Project-related security installs and maintenance
Review and provide approvals for Work Orders for security-related vendors
Develop scope of work and contract parameters with outside vendors that support security operations
Research, review and evaluate security equipment requirements and recommend cost effective solutions
Serve as a point of contact between the Projects Africa Group and Corporate Security for all project-related activity in Africa
Provide security recommendations for Africa projects based on intelligence reports from the Threat Analyst Group
Research, document and liaise with APC Legal Department (Export Compliance ) and vendors regarding any US Trade Control parameters with any product selection and export
Prepare the Security Projects Africa budget and ensure that it is maintained
Meet with all levels of Project staff and communicate all Project updates to relevant Country Security Managers, Regional Security Managers and Manager, Global Security Operations (MGSO)
Provide comprehensive and accurate reports of Project meetings to the Manager, Global Security Operations
Stay up-to-date on current events occurring in Africa and maintain an information base on all countries in the region
Assist in development, review and updates of Corporate, regional, and local security/risk management plans
Develop and execute training and drills of security emergency plans
Stay up-to-date on global K&R trends, specifically in Africa region.
Coordinate Evacuation Plans, internationally
Education
A High School Diploma/GED is required; a Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred.
Certifications/Licenses
Valid driver’s license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required.
Professional Security Certification preferred.
Relocation
This position is not eligible for relocation.
Travel Requirements
The percentage of travel required for this position may exceed 10%. Candidate must have flexibility to travel frequently within the region and globally, as needed.
Work Schedule
This position covers 24-hour operations and must be available for 24/7 on call.
