Description
INSTRUCTOR – (NAVSCOLEOD)Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal (NAVSCOLEOD), a formal joint service EOD Learning Center, requires education and training services at Eglin, AFB to support training U. S. Military, civilian personnel and international students in accordance with NETC approved training courses.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
Conduct training and provide instructional support for the specific NAVSCOLEOD Divisions using government furnished instructional materials, equipment and Navy instructional methodologies to produce graduates who satisfy the NAVSCOLEOD published mission and meet the performance and course completion standards of the established learning objectives.
Provide instructional support for each NAVSCOLEOD Division, including carrying out teaching assignments; classroom, student, and course administration; classroom safety and security procedures; testing, grading and evaluation; remediation; retesting; student record documentation; equipment maintenance; physical inventory; curriculum surveillance / maintenance; interim changes; and scheduling of ranges and munitions required to support instructional/lab training for students.
Duties:
General duties include:
Conduct training using the learning materials provided and the instructional methodologies listed in course control documents in classroom and practical settings.
Maintain an orderly, professional atmosphere in all classrooms and laboratories.
Maintain currency in technical expertise and training techniques. Maintain proficiency in instructional techniques as set forth in Navy Instructor Training Course or equivalent, and in the use of training aids, equipment, devices, and instructional materials necessary to teach assigned topics. Attend on and offsite meetings, conferences, symposiums and training funded by the government to maximize expertise and maintain proficiency.
Specific duties include:
Conduct the Courses of Instruction applicable to the training support required for NAVSCOLEOD Divisions as assigned for the following courses:
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic (Navy)
Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic (Surface)
Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic (Surface)
Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Basic – Nuclear
All International Explosive Ordnance Disposal Courses
IED/VIP Orientation
Advanced Improvised Explosive Device Disposal
Assume duties and tasks such as Range Safety Supervisor (RSS), and receive arms, ammunition and explosive (AA&E) training in performance of daily duties that are commensurate to experience, qualifications and position.
Experience / Qualifications:
Required Experience / Qualifications:
Graduate of NAVSCOLEOD and either the Navy’s Instructor Training (IT) Course (A-012-0077), Army’s IT Course (131-ITC-1) or the Air Force’s IT Course (E3AIR3S200 069).
High school diploma or equivalent (i.e., GED)
Successful performance in an equivalent or directly related specialty for at least six (6) years and be recognized as a Senior EOD technician.
Three (3) years experience as a classroom/practical area instructor, with demonstrated understanding of instructor roles and responsibilities and how to prepare for a classroom following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Pass a physical and mental examination as a condition of employment in accordance with NETCINST 1500.20D, a psychological evaluation will be required due to the high-risk nature of this course.
Successful screening for “drug free” employment, both initially (pre-employment screening) and then randomly during the course of performance.
Direct experience in conducting group-paced, criterion-referenced, Instructor-managed, 8 hour format, lecture and laboratory type instructional systems that utilize firmly established training procedures in accordance with the Navy Instructor Training Course.
Adult-level Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified in accordance with standards of the American Heart Association.
Provide remediation to students experiencing academic problems.
Secret Security Clearance
Instructor Qualification and Certification Requirements:
All instructors must be qualified and certified by the Government in each assigned block of instruction prior to assuming lead instructional duties. This includes initial and recurring evaluations of both instructor technical knowledge and instructional abilities. Failure to pass initial and/or subsequent instructor certifications will result in decertification in the specific deficient block of instruction.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications:
Navy Master Training Specialist or Air Force/Army Master Training Instructor.
Prior NAVSCOLEOD instructional experience
